Coptic Christian Churches Bombed on Palm Sunday

+

Please see the BBC article online here  and the Reuters article here.

In a coordinated effort, Muslim terrorists have bombed two Coptic Orthodox churches in Egypt.

In the bombed church in Alexandria, Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church (the See of St. Mark) was celebrating Mass. The Coptic Pope was not harmed, but between the two bombings over 40 Coptic Christians are known dead, many are wounded. Let us pray for the wounded and those who bear the cross of grief at this time.

The murdered Coptic Orthodox Christians are now numbered among the Holy Martyrs for they were killed because of the Islamic terrorists' hate of the Christian faith.

Also, four police officers were killed in the blasts. May they rest in peace.

It is a fact that the Egyptian government does very little to protect the Christian minority from attacks by the Muslim fanatics like the Salafists, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the so-called Islamic State (ISIL/ISIS/Daesh).  This is not the first Muslim atrocity against Christians in Egypt, and sadly it is certain not to be the last unless the current Egyptian government decides to protect the Christian minority and guarantee their rights under Egyptian law.

St. Mark, pray for us.
Holy Martyrs of Egypt, pray for us.

Quotation from St Catherine of Sienna

“We’ve had enough of exhortations to be silent!

Cry out with a hundred thousand tongues.

I see that the world is rotten because of silence.”

PALM SUNDAY
THE INTERCESSION

Minister
We stand with Christ in his suffering.
For forgiveness for the many times we have denied Jesus,
let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For grace to seek out those habits of sin which mean spiritual death, and by prayer and self-discipline to overcome them, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For Christian people, that through the suffering of disunity there may grow a rich union in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For those who make laws, interpret them, and administer them, that our common life may be ordered in justice and mercy, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For those who still make Jerusalem a battle-ground, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For those who have the courage and honesty to work openly for justice and peace, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For those in the darkness and agony of isolation, that they may find support and encouragement, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For those, weighed down with hardship, failure, or sorrow, feel that God is far from them, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
For those who are tempted to give up the Way of the Cross, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Minister
That we, with those who have died in faith, may find mercy in the Day of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

All
Lord, have mercy.

Anglican Patrimony: Collect for Mission and Evangelisation

+

Lord JESUS Christ, who didst stretch out thine arms of love upon the hard wood of the Cross, that all men everywhere might come within the reach of thy saving embrace: So clothe us with thy Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know thee to the knowledge and love of thee; for the honour of thy Name. Amen.

“We may therefore make bold to say that the Gospels are the first fruits of all the Scriptures, but that of the Gospels that of John is the first fruits. No one can apprehend the meaning of it except he that has lain on Jesus’ breast and received, from Jesus, Mary to be his mother also.”

Anglican Patrimony: Nigerian Offertory Rite, 1965

+
Although the Nigerian Anglican Church no longer uses the following rite -- having imported the Berakoth from the Roman Catholic Novus Ordo Missae into their recent Prayer Book, it remains one of the most beautiful of the forms to be found in the Anglican Patrimony drawing together artistic innovation and ancient source material.  [The use of the collect 'Be present, be present' before Sursum Corda is a feature borrowed from the Church of South India's original Eucharistic order.]

The Nigerian United Liturgy of 1965

All stand, and the offertory sentences are said.

Minister
Behold, how good and joyful a thing it is, brethren,
to dwell together in unity.
We who are many are one bread, one body,
for we all partake of the one bread.

People
I will offer in His dwelling
an oblation with great gladness,
I will sing and speak praises unto the Lord.

A hymn is now sung, and the bread and wine for the Communion, together with the alms of the people, are brought forward and placed on the Table.

While all remain standing, the minister says

Holy Father, who through the blood of Thy dear Son hast consecrated for us a new and living way to Thy throne of grace, we come to Thee through Him, unworthy as we are, and we humbly beseech Thee to accept and use us and these our gifts for Thy glory. All that is in heaven and earth is Thine, and of Thine own do we give to Thee.
People Amen.

All kneel and say together

Be present, be present, O Jesus, Thou good High Priest, as Thou wast in the midst of Thy disciples, and make Thyself known to us in the breaking of the bread, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

The minister stands and continues with the Sursum Corda saying, The Lord be with you.

Anglican Patrimony: Upon Entering A Church or Chapel

+
Devotions upon entering a church or chapel

When you enter the church, kneel, make the sign of the Cross, and say:

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be always acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my Strength, and my Redeemer.  Amen.

O Lord God, give unto us grace, that with due reverence we may draw near to this Holy Sacrifice, that together with Thy Priest we may offer it unto Thee, first to Thy Honor and Glory; second, in thankful memory of the life and death of Jesus Christ Thy Son Our Lord; third, in thanksgiving for all Thy mercies to us (especially ...); fourth, that Thou mayest give unto us Thy continual help (especially for ...); fifth, for the blessing of all dear to us (especially ...); and sixth for rest and peace to all the blessed dead. Hear us, we beseech Thee, for the sake of Christ Our Lord.  Amen.

While waiting for the service to begin, read hymns, psalms, or other portions of the Holy Bible.

As the priest enters, say this prayer for him:

May the Lord look upon thee with favour, forgive all thy sins, pardon thine unworthiness, and make thee an acceptable minister, that thou mayest rightly offer these Holy Mysteries. Amen.

Anglican Patrimony: Adoration and Intercession to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament

+

O SAVIOUR of the world, Our LORD and Master JESUS CHRIST, Lover of Souls and King of Saints, we adore Thee Present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, and we pray Thee to intercede for us, pleading the virtue of Thy Holy Life and Death.

We adore Thee in the Mystery of the Incarnation, dwelling in all the splendour of the Heavenly Places, and worshipped by Saints and Angels as GOD of GOD, Light of Light, Very GOD of Very GOD, but on earth veiling Thy Glory as GOD made Man, even as in the Holy Communion Thou art hidden beneath the elements of Bread and Wine.

We adore Thee in Thy Holy Nativity, lying as a helpless Babe upon the straw or asleep in the Virgin's arms, but ruling all things as Almighty GOD.  And as Saint Mary and Saint Joseph, the Shepherds and the Wise Men and all the Heavenly Host worshipped Thee in Thy Manger Throne as the Only Begotten of the Father, so we bend in loving adoration before Thee now, enthroned in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

We adore Thee in Thy Holy Life: in Thy Home at Nazareth, in Thy Ministry among men, reviled and persecuted, weary, hungry and faint, often with no place in which to lay Thy Head, tempted in all points as we are and like unto us in all things, yet without sin.  And we pray Thee grant us grace to follow Thy blessed example, pleasing not ourselves, going about doing good, and bearing our Cross after Thee, Our LORD and Master, Our SAVIOUR and King, despised and rejected among men but the very Light of the world Whom we here acknowledge in the Blessed Sacrament.

We adore Thee in Thy Death and Passion, in Thine Agony in the Garden, in Thy bitter trials before Annas, Caiaphas, Herod and Pilate, on the Way of Sorrows, and on the Cross at Calvary.  And we worship Thee, Our Most Holy Redeemer, covered with blood, dust and spittle, in all Thy pain and humiliation, Who didst patiently suffer all things for "us men and for our salvation," Who couldst have had legions of Angels at Thy side.  And we pray Thee, that we may be washed in Thy Precious Blood and receive to ourselves the pardon won for us, as we plead the Memorial of Thy Death and Passion in the Holy Sacrifice of the Altar and feed on Thee, the Lamb of GOD that takest away the sins of the world, as Thou givest Thy Body and Blood unto Everlasting Life.

We adore Thee, Our Risen and Ascended LORD, Who didst conquer sin and the grave, Who didst rise again from the dead and take Thy Glorified Human Nature to the Highest place of Sovereignty and Honour at the Right Hand side of GOD. And we pray Thee that we may rise from our sins and ascend to lead a better life, seeking the things which are above and preparing for that wonderful life hereafter, when we hope to see Thee face to face, by approaching Thee here in earth in the Sacramental Feast.

O SAVIOUR of the world, may we ever adore Thee more and more, and never requite Thy love for us by coldness, carelessness or wrong-doing.  May we wholly give ourselves to Thee, Who wast all nailed to the Cross for us.  May we burn with the fire of love, the ardour of devotion, the fervour of zeal, adoring, glorifying and following Thee so that we may truly "see light in the Face of JESUS CHRIST."  As GOD may we worship Thee, as Man may we copy Thee, as Both may we be united with Thee in the Most Comfortable Sacrament of Thy Body and Blood, the very joy of existence here, the very promise of life hereafter.

GLORY, Honour, Praise and Worship be to Thee forevermore, WHO with the FATHER and the HOLY GHOST art One GOD, world without end. Amen.

Ave, Verum

HAIL, true Body, born of Mary;
Spotless Virgin's virgin birth;
Thou Who truly hangest weary
On the Cross for sons of earth;
Thou whose Sacred Side was riven,
Whence the Water flowed and Blood.
O mayst Thou, dear LORD, be given
At death's hour to be my Food.
O most Kind, O Gracious One!
O sweetest JESU, Mary's Son.

Death of Informed Consent?

U$A

The following is of concern for those who live in the United States of America.  It is not a slick produced media blurb from CNN, FOX, or one of the other corporate-owned broadcast propaganda services.  In these difficult times for real news reporting and truth-telling, the following video and the link to ActivistPost are perhaps the closest we have to actual news reporting on this subject.

As the editors of the article linked below note: "The “21st Century Cures Act” – HR 34 – became law in December, 2016 and most people have no idea what it contains. Essentially, it redefines what is meant by informed consent. Or, put another way, it expands the ability for Big Pharma to experiment on the population under the assumption that the dangers of vaccines and pharmaceuticals are too minimal for serious consideration."

New Law Could Eliminate Informed Consent For Human Experimentation With Vaccines And Meds

If you live in the USA, you are of course free to completely disregard this information and continue believing that everything is just fine and Big Pharma and your federal government have only your best interests at heart.

Mozarabic Missal: "Thou art the True and Living Bread"

+

Thou art the true and living Bread, thou that didst descend from heaven to give food to them that hunger, yea, to be thyself the food of them that live.

Thou gives thyself in that Bread wherewith hearts are made strong, that by virtue of this Bread we may have strength to fast throughout these days that are dedicated to thy Name, without fainting of flesh and blood, being fed by thee: for thou feedest thy poor ones abundantly with heavenly loaves.

Thou didst make the number forty a mark for Moses and Elijah, who continued in fasting for forty days. Thereafter even thyself, fasting, thou didst mark for us the same number of days of solemn fast.

Therefore what thou thyself in the weakness of our flesh didst fulfillment through forty days and nights, let us fulfill in due order throughout the same number of days; and end each separate reckoning with our evening prayer.
