Coptic Christian Churches Bombed on Palm Sunday

Please see the BBC article online here  and the Reuters article here.

In a coordinated effort, Muslim terrorists have bombed two Coptic Orthodox churches in Egypt.

In the bombed church in Alexandria, Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church (the See of St. Mark) was celebrating Mass. The Coptic Pope was not harmed, but between the two bombings over 40 Coptic Christians are known dead, many are wounded. Let us pray for the wounded and those who bear the cross of grief at this time.

The murdered Coptic Orthodox Christians are now numbered among the Holy Martyrs for they were killed because of the Islamic terrorists' hate of the Christian faith.

Also, four police officers were killed in the blasts. May they rest in peace.

It is a fact that the Egyptian government does very little to protect the Christian minority from attacks by the Muslim fanatics like the Salafists, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the so-called Islamic State (ISIL/ISIS/Daesh).  This is not the first Muslim atrocity against Christians in Egypt, and sadly it is certain not to be the last unless the current Egyptian government decides to protect the Christian minority and guarantee their rights under Egyptian law.

St. Mark, pray for us.
Holy Martyrs of Egypt, pray for us.
