Eternal Father, we place before you the project of forming the Personal Ordinariates for Anglicans seeking full communion with the Catholic Church.
Eternal Father, we place before you the project of forming the Personal Ordinariates for Anglicans seeking full communion with the Catholic Church.
We thank you for this initiative of Pope Benedict XVI, and we ask that, through the Holy Spirit, the Ordinariates may become: families of charity, peace and the service of the poor, centres for Christian unity and reconciliation, communities that welcome and evangelize, teaching the Faith in all its fullness, celebrating the liturgy and sacraments with prayerful reverence and maintaining a distinctive patrimony of Christian faith and culture.
Drawing on that heritage we pray:
Go before us, O Lord,
in all our doings
with thy most gracious favour,
and further us
with thy continual help;
that in all our works, begun,
continued and ended in thee,
we may glorify thy holy name,
and finally by thy mercy
obtain everlasting life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
in all our doings
with thy most gracious favour,
and further uswith thy continual help;
that in all our works, begun,
continued and ended in thee,
we may glorify thy holy name,
and finally by thy mercy

Amen.
Our Lady of Walsingham:
Pray for us as we claim
your motherly care.

Saint Therese of the Infant Jesus:
Pray for us as we place this
work under your patronage.
Pray for us as we place this

Blessed John Henry Newman:
Pray that Christ’s Heart
may speak unto our hearts.

Saints & Martyrs of England,
Wales, Scotland & Ireland:
Pray for us and accompany
us on our pilgrim way.

Hello-
I was just over on the OUR LADY OF WALSINGHAM website and found all those beautiful photos of the Dedication of the Shrine.
I don't suppose any one thought to have it video taped for release on a DVD for people to buy, did they? Too bad, a little investment can go a long way.
The one thing that concerns me from the pictures, and this is purely speculation based on the evidence provided, is a great deal more 'lay' involvement in the proceedings. I hope I am misinterpreting. Hate to see things start going all "NOVUS ORDO" now that the Ordinariate is coming. What's next? Altar Girls?
I know I'm sounding a bit reactionary but Anglicans coming into the Ordinariate don't want to get hit with surprises they are not expecting or they may just turn around and walk out. There will be a certain percentage of that anyway, I think.
Anyway, beautiful Church and Shrine. I truly hope I can visit one day.
Thank you for your comments, Matthew, but be advised that the beautiful dedication Mass was videotaped for posterity. I believe the lay involvement you question is simply the involvement of the women of the Altar Guild of St. Martha. In the consecration of a new altar they are the ones who vest the altar, bringing out the candlesticks, the fair linen for the altar, and the Altar Flowers. At Our Lady of Walsingham they are the most extraordinary and devout women who are both 'Mary's and Martha's', so we cherish them and give praise to God for their silent faithful duty that makes it possible for all to participate and enjoy the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Young women and older girls are urged to take part in the St. Martha's Altar Guild, and the boys and men constitute the corps of the altar servers of St. Vincent. This is part of our Anglican patrimony where all service at the altar is both physical work and a call to a devout and holy life.
Thank you so much for the clarification, I feel much better. Happy to be wrong!
I definitely would buy a DVD.
Have a Blessed Day.
And a Blessed Day to you, Matthew! I pray you may make a pilgrimage to the Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Walsingham. For me, it has been a place of mercy and grace where miracles have been wrought in my life in Christ. I pray that everyone whether they come to our Shrine and Parish or simply invoke Our Lady under her ancient title 'of Walsingham' will find their lives filled with abundant graces and arising within them the courage to follow closely where Our Lord Jesus leads the way.
