FORE BEDES: For the Evening

+
STAND

Minister
The day goeth away, and the shadows of the evening are stretched out ; let our prayer be set forth as the incense, and the lifting up of our hands as the evening sacrifice ; and it shall come to pass that at evening time it shall be light.

To be sung :

Splendour of God, Eternal Light of Light,
Jesus our Lord ; as falls the darkening night,
Seek we Thy presence where no night can be ;
Light of the World, may we see light in Thee . .

Minister
Let us pray.

KNEEL

PRAYER

O Lord Jesus Christ, who art the true Light of the World— the Sun of Righteousness, evermore rising and never going down ; who by Thy life-giving beams dost bring forth and nourish all things in heaven and earth ; we beseech Thee mercifully to shine into our hearts, that the darkness of sin and the twilight mists of error on every side may be driven away ; and that we may go forward in Thy light, without stumbling or misgiving ; having no fellowship with the works of darkness, but abounding in all those good works which Thou hast prepared for us to walk in to the honour of Thy holy name.
