I was surprised to learn that this hymn is reviled by those who think the average music in a Catholic parish is super. Perhaps it is chromaticism that rankles those who prefer guitars and only three chords per song. I don't know. I only know that these rousing old Catholic hymns stir my heart and make me ready to do whatever the Lord asks of me.+The Sacred Heart of Jesus by every tongue adored!
